PSG Kit 2018/19 Design

The PSG is undoubtedly not only one of the best soccer clubs in Europe, but also one of the top clubs of the world. Every great team deserves a great branding, sports kit and corporate identity.

My approach to the club is thru HopHop Brand Studio, and began with the arrival of the new owners, Oryx Qatar Sports Investments (QSi) and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. They established an extremely ambitious project, incarnated by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the club's all-time leading goal scorer (156 goals between 2012 and 2016), Edinson Cavani and Marco Verratti. The project that has one aim: to take Paris SG to the summits of the European game, having already transformed the Red-and-Blues into the most successful French club in history, with 33 trophies, including 16 since the arrival of QSi.

In January 2017, I had the opportunity to lead the design of the first, second and third equipment that the PSG will wear during the 2017-18 season. We work hand in hand, leading a team of talented sportswear designers and senior executives from QSi.

One of the greatest design challenges was to rescue the history of the French sports club founded in 1970, with the red, blue and white traditional colors. The red and blue represent the city of Paris, while the white stands for the nearby commune of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

We needed to continue with the evolution of their uniforms and their football, as well as show the good moment that the club is going through after the acquisition by QSi in 2011. The result was a design oriented to the future, with color modifications to enhance the traditional red line that vertically divide the jersey as a central element, in addition we thinning this element considering its new notoriety, and also added a unique pattern, never seen before in a soccer uniform design due to its complexity.

Certainly one of few professional football shirts to have been designed by a great fashion designer (Daniel Hechter), the jersey of our club - recognizable between 1000 - is blue with a red central band. This is PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN: in France or in Europe, it is by this shirt that we are identified.
